Recruiters see "Hard-working team player" 100 times a day. It says nothing.
Swap these dead phrases for proof:
1. Instead of: "Hard worker"
Write: "Worked 6-day weeks during peak season and managed 50+ customer queries daily without backlog."
Proof > Adjective.
2. Instead of: "Team player"
Write: "Collaborated with 4-member sales team to exceed monthly target by 20% for 3 consecutive months."
3. Instead of: "Fast learner"
Write: "Learned and implemented Pastel Accounting within 2 weeks, reducing invoicing errors by 15%."
4. Instead of: "Responsible for..."
Write: Start with action: "Managed daily cash-ups of R15,000" not "Responsible for cash-ups".
5. Instead of: "Excellent communication skills"
Write: "Handled customer complaints via phone and WhatsApp, maintaining a 95% positive feedback rating."
Bonus Tip: Add this final line to your CV footer: "References available on request." Don't list ID, gender, or marital status — it's outdated and not required in SA anymore under POPIA.
