Terms of Use

Clear rules for using our career reporting, opportunity information, community features and downloadable resources.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using SwitcherBrief, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy & Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site. You must use the site lawfully and, where necessary, with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

2. What SwitcherBrief provides

We publish career news, editorial analysis, workplace information, opportunities and practical guidance. Content is general information and does not constitute legal, financial, immigration, educational, medical, recruitment or professional advice tailored to you.

We aim for useful and accurate information, but opportunities can change without notice. The original employer, institution, funder or programme owner—not SwitcherBrief—controls eligibility, deadlines, selection and final terms.

3. Applications, safety and scams

Verify the destination domain and organization before applying, uploading documents or making any payment. Never send passwords, one-time PINs, banking credentials or unnecessary identity information because a comment, message or unaffiliated person claims to represent SwitcherBrief. We are not a recruitment agency unless a page expressly states otherwise.

4. Permitted use

You may read, share links to and make reasonable personal use of public content. You may not:

5. Comments and submissions

You remain responsible for content you submit. Do not post unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, deceptive, defamatory, infringing, private, malicious or promotional spam content. Do not publish another person’s contact details or sensitive information.

By submitting a public comment, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format and display that comment for operating and promoting the discussion around the relevant article. We may moderate, refuse, edit for basic safety or remove submissions, but are not obliged to monitor everything before publication.

6. Documents and downloads

Articles may provide PDFs, office documents and other files for convenience. Some are supplied by third parties and remain subject to their owners’ rights and terms. Check that a document is current and use appropriate device security before opening it. We do not promise that every file will remain available or be suitable for a particular purpose.

7. Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the site design, branding and original editorial content belong to or are licensed to SwitcherBrief and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Third-party names, logos, photographs, embedded media and documents remain the property of their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you.

8. Advertising, sponsorship and analytics

The site may display advertising, including Google advertising, and may measure audience use through Google Analytics when consent and configuration permit. Advertising revenue supports the publication but does not give an advertiser control over editorial conclusions. Sponsored or commercial content should be identified where required. Your privacy choices are described in our Privacy & Cookie Policy.

9. External services

Links, embeds and application destinations can lead to services we do not control. Their content, availability, security, accessibility, privacy and terms are their responsibility. A link is not a guarantee, endorsement or partnership unless expressly stated.

10. Availability and changes

We may correct, update, move or remove content and may suspend features for maintenance, security, legal or operational reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that archived information remains current.

11. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of completeness, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, SwitcherBrief and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from reliance on content, missed opportunities, third-party conduct, external sites, downloads or service interruptions. You remain responsible for decisions and applications made using the information.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without overriding any mandatory consumer protection that applies to you. Before formal proceedings, please contact us and give us a reasonable opportunity to address the concern. Courts with lawful jurisdiction in South Africa may hear unresolved disputes.

13. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the service or law changes. The effective date above identifies the current version; continued use after an update means the current Terms apply. Questions can be sent through the contact page.
